Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Double Cut (1965) – Vintage Electric Guitar

This original mid-1960s Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Double Cut Nashville (1965) is a highly regarded vintage hollow-body electric guitar, prized for its distinctive tone, classic styling, and historical significance in electric guitar design. It remains a sought-after instrument for both collectors and serious players.

Built with a laminated maple hollow body and double-cutaway design, this model delivers the signature Gretsch sound—clear, articulate highs with a warm, woody midrange and controlled resonance. The guitar is equipped with dual Filter’Tron humbucking pickups, known for their tight, defined output and low noise performance, making them ideal for rockabilly, country, blues, and early rock tones.

The instrument features a maple neck with ebony fingerboard, Grover tuners, and a Gretsch-branded Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, offering expressive pitch control. Signature aesthetic details include the horseshoe headstock inlay, painted F-holes, and classic double-cut body shape.

As expected from a vintage instrument of this era, the guitar shows honest play wear, including dings and fret wear (most noticeable from frets 3–12). There is also some binding deterioration around the neck heel and body edges, which is common for Gretsch instruments of this period, though it remains structurally stable.

The original frets are described as low but still playable, and the guitar has undergone a recent professional setup, ensuring it is currently ready to play.
