At Allison Music, we’re more than just a music store—we’re locally owned business proudly serving Wagga Wagga and the surrounding Riverina region for over 23 years. With a team of professional musicians who are as passionate about music as our customers, we strive to support individuals, bands, schools, and community groups in achieving their musical dreams. Here’s a closer look at the people who make it all happen.
Dale Allison – The Captain
Dale is the heart and soul of Allison Music, guiding the business with his deep passion for music that has spanned a lifetime. He began his musical journey at age five, picking up the drums before being mesmerised by the sound of “Guitar Boogie” at school. Inspired by this, Dale received a guitar for Christmas and taught himself to play, a passion he has continued ever since.
With extensive experience performing across a wide range of national touring acts and theatre productions, Dale has mastered numerous music styles and genres. His commitment to helping customers find the right instruments, PA systems, and gear is matched only by his desire to share his knowledge. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced musician, Dale’s expertise in all things Guitar ensures you’re in excellent hands.
Riley McPherson
Riley, with nearly two decades of experience at Allison Music, is a cornerstone of the team. Known for his motto, “have drums, will travel,” Riley has toured the world with ARIA Award-winning artist Fanny Lumsden, playing at iconic festivals like Glastonbury & Byron Bay Bluesfest.
In addition to his global adventures, Riley is an active member of Wagga’s music scene, performing with local bands and sharing his expertise with aspiring musicians. At the store, Riley’s in-depth knowledge of all things musical makes him an invaluable resource for musicians at all levels.
Preston Oakman
Preston joined Allison Music team in 2022 and has already made a significant impact. A skilled bass player with aspirations of a professional music career, Preston brings a wealth of technical knowledge to the team. His role as a production tech at Wagga’s Civic Theatre has honed his expertise in PA systems, live sound, and gig setups.
Beyond his technical skills, Preston has worked tirelessly to enhance Allison Music’s online presence, overseeing the development of the website and ensuring a seamless shopping experience for customers. Whether you’re looking for the perfect bass or advice on PA gear, Preston’s got you covered.
Ben Gillard
Ben may be the newest member of the Allison Music team, but his talent is undeniable. At just 16 years old, he’s already made a name for himself as a gifted fingerstyle guitarist. Ben has performed as a featured artist at the 2024 NSW School Spectacular and won the 2024 Tamworth Country Music Festival’s Busking Competition alongside his mate Robbie.
Ben’s enthusiasm and expertise shine through as he helps customers choose guitars, demonstrates techniques, and shares his love of music. His friendly nature and impressive skills make him a hit with customers and an inspiration for young musicians across the region.
Supporting Musicians in the Riverina & beyond.
At Allison Music, we take great pride in being more than just a music retailer—we are an active part of the Riverina’s vibrant music community. Our commitment to supporting local musicians, schools, and community groups runs deep, and we’re continuously working to make music accessible to all.
One of the ways we give back is through our strong partnerships with schools in the region. We help provide instruments, sound systems, and equipment for music programs, ensuring students have access to the best tools to develop their musical skills & sponsoring multiple school battle of the band competitions.
Beyond the world of education, Allison Music is also a key supporter of various community groups and events throughout the Riverina. We provide technical expertise, and sponsorship for festivals, charity fundraisers, and concerts. Our involvement in local events helps bring live music to the community and makes the experience of attending or performing in these events more accessible for everyone.
Customer service is at the core of our business, and we believe that our support extends well beyond the point of sale. Whether you’re buying your first guitar or upgrading to that perfect grand piano you’ve always dreamed of, we offer after-sales service to ensure your gear stays in top condition.
